  • Smoke Alarm Warning

  • The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015 came into force on October 1st. If you rent flats above your premises or elsewhere, you must ensure there is a) a smoke alarm installed on every storey which is used as living accommodation and b) a carbon monoxide alarm in any room used as living accommodation where solid fuel is used (coal, wood etc). You can download a guide to this HERE

Note it is not (yet) mandatory to fit a Carbon Monoxide alarm in a room where there is a gas appliance, but we would strongly recommend it as good practice and it should reinforce your position as a reputable Landlord.
